INtRODUCING BRIGITTE BORDEAUX
Owned and operated by a young couple with a passion for wine and for life, for Kat and Matt Brigitte Bordeaux is about more than just wine. Along with a sense of love for food and wine, there’s an emphasis on bringing their spirited and independent ethos to Sherwood and the local neighbourhood.
As local residents and wine enthusiasts, we wanted to open a great place in Sherwood for local people to buy, drink and learn about quality-driven wine. Come along and grab a bottle from the shop, join us for a glass or two in the bar, or learn more about wine at one of our regular tasting events.

WINE OF THE MONTH
RED
2015 Moulin des Chenes Lirac
Region: Lirac, Southern Rhône
Grape: 45% Syrah/Shiraz, 40% Cinsault, 10% Grenache/Garnacha, 5% Mourvedre
Price: Was £13.20 - Now £11.90
Conditions for Lirac are similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape - a climate with over 2500 hours of sunlight per year and a dry growing season that ensures consistently ripe, flavoursome wines. Both have predominantly stony soils supported by red clay underneath. The Mistral wind keeps the crop healthy and concentrates flavours in the berries.
Deep crimson in colour, with notes of strawberries and blackberries. On the palate, the wine has a velvety mouthfeel and fresh acidity. Redcurrant flavours continue through the mouthwatering finish.
RED
2017 ARE YOU GAME
Region: Victoria, Australia
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
Price: Was £14.50 - Now £13.10
Vintage 2017 was an extremely late and cold year, which is of particular benefit to Pinot! The cool conditions allow the delicate strawberry fruit characters to develop at relatively low sugar levels. Unusually fast malolactic fermentations resulted in lighter style 2017 reds. They are bottle ready much earlier than usual. This wine is a lovely vibrant fresh varietal Pinot Noir, with additional complexity and a vibrant cherry red colour. Aromas of strawberry, cherry and spicy oak excite the nose. The palate is soft and bright with flavours of fresh red fruits and silky texture.
WHITE
2016 TINPOT HUT
Region: Marlborough, New Zealand
Grapes: 100% Grüner Veltliner
Price: Was £16.50 - Now £14.90
The 2016 growing season was characterised by a dry spring and an unusually warm summer, which promoted vigorous vine growth, allowing Tinpot Hut to harvest fruit which was intensely concentrated.
A delicate straw yellow, this wine displays elegant aromas of orange blossom, citrus and stone fruit blended with hints of sweet, floral honeysuckle. Flavours of white peach mingle well with subtle peppery spice notes. Mineral complexity, which is so reflective of the Blind River sub region, gives this wine a clean and crisp appeal. The balance of the fruit, acidity and phenolics work very well together and lead to a long dry finish.
